A blog about what I love and do, illustration. I do it, teach it, read about it, research it for others. If it was edible…

Flitcraft Comes Alive!
Okay slight pun with the title. But, "The Flitcrfat Parable" is out in the Jan/Feb issue of City Arts Magazine. Check it out if you can and let me know what you think. A blog like mine is like mine is like a message in a bottle. Oooh, another bad musical reference.
Howdy, Mr Shaw. Saw your comic in the City Arts mag. Good stuff. Was curious about some of your technical achievements.. like how do you get that magic inky frayed/crumbly look from a vector program? I've been experimenting with scanning in my pencils and just ramping up the levels. Anyhow I liked looking through your blog and seeing the behind the scenes stuff.
Hello Mr. Nineinchnachos, Alas, I did not use a vector program for the art, I did that with pens, the old kind filled with inky goodness! The art was scanned then colored and lettered digitally. But there are ways to make vectors jump through some amazing hoops. Liked your website by the way. Cool sound effects, and now I can't stop singing "pineapples and potatoes." Feel free to contact me directly if you want to talk more digital tricks! Stan "live fast, draw hard."
A lot of time goes to illustration (Technorati Profile) and building my library. Time is also spent in the garden, where I am the butler, playing with my dog. or working on a remodel.
